Preparation Steps
- 1Boil the water with spices In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the cinnamon stick, crushed cardamom pods, cloves, and sliced ginger. Reduce the heat and let the spices simmer for 5 minutes to release their flavors.
- 2Add the tea and saffron Add the black tea bags (or loose tea) and the dissolved saffron (along with the water it was soaked in) to the saucepan. Let it steep for 3-4 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
- 3Warm the milk In a separate small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling. If you prefer a frothy latte, use a frother or whisk to create foam.
- 4Combine and sweeten Remove the tea bags (or strain if using loose tea) from the spiced water mixture. Stir in the honey and vanilla extract until fully dissolved. Pour the warm milk into the tea mixture, stirring gently to combine.
- 5Serve and garnish Pour the Saffron Spiced Chai Latte into two mugs. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of ground nutmeg on top for extra warmth. Serve hot and enjoy the aromatic flavors!
